The e-Book Reader

I have taken the final technological step. For me. For now. I have an e-book reader.

I hesitated over this for some time. Was it simply another toy, an unnecessary gadget? After all, real books are not in short supply. My house is proof of that – they are everywhere. I haven't yet got to the point of using them to prop up table tops and masquerade as coffee tables, but.....

Mainely Glass: Free Shipping Day 2010 is December 17th

With so many web stores and products to choose from, consumers are looking for that little something extra. Many will only buy from websites that offer free shipping. Now I know, there is no such thing as "free" anything. The cost is just built in somewhere else. Sometimes it's best to not argue semantics. Musings from A Seasoned Ruby Laner: 10 Things

This is a useful exercise I undertook for my own enlightenment. You might want to try it yourself:

10 things I should have learned by now

1. However many storage boxes I buy, my house does not get any bigger.

2. Marshmallows and meringues may not contain any fat but they make me fat

3. It is better to design the garden, then buy the plants.

4. There are only 24 hours in each day and several of them are required for sleeping.

Musings from A Seasoned Ruby Laner: Auntie Kit and the World Wide Web

Auntie Kit was a one-off. Some people called her eccentric, but she was just her own woman. She was my Great Aunt, my Grandmother's sister. They didn't get on.

A Message To All Shop Owners on the Ruby Lane Family of Sites

As we begin to prepare for the busy Fall shopping season ahead, I felt it was important, before the rush, to reach out to all shops – both veteran and new sellers - who are now part of the Ruby Lane family.

It's been an exciting and dynamic year for both Ruby Lane and Ruby Plaza, even in the tough economic times that have touched virtually everyone. Here are a few updates and thoughts about where we are - and where we're going - that I would like to pass on to you.

Mainely Glass: Using RSS Feeds to Stay Informed and Save Time

I was recently having a discussion with another dealer about Opalescent Glass. I said to her "Did you read the blog that Frances wrote about it last week on Notes From The Lane?" "What blog?" She said. "How do you always know about all those blogs? Who has time to check every day to see if there are new ones?" The answer is no one does really. That's where RSS comes in.
