I thought it would be fun to write an article touching on very famous cameo carvers! There are many carvers both past and present, however there are two that I especially want to write about because they regularly signed their work and truly were the most famed carvers of their day...and they remain popular today as their works continue to be highly collectible and coveted among collectors.
The Japanese word “gaman” means “enduring what seems unbearable with dignity and grace.” It has come to define the works of art created by Japanese evacuees held in relocation centers for the duration of WWII. In our first discussion of this period of American history author Jacqueline Rehmann shared a number of arts and crafts created by those residents.

This pretty pitcher is a fake 'Nippon' marked item. No pitcher with this shape and decoration was ever originally made by a Japanese producer during the Nippon era (1891-1921).
