Boy, has it been a long winter here on the cape (Cape Cod, Ma.). It was only 38 degrees all day today. But still,  there are signs of spring outside, a few daffodils and some lilies starting to show. We often don't get much of a spring here, but occasionally it does happen. Around here we usually just roll right into summer.

I noticed something the other day. Whenever I dress to go anywhere at all, I always wear earrings and a ring, or two. Even if it’s just to walk the dog, or run out to the supermarket, I do slip on my wedding ring. I have four wedding rings mostly modest, one with a diamond a friend gave to my husband when his dad, a jeweler, passed.

A few days ago my 9 year old great niece told me that her school teacher had the class chew peppermint gum before their weekly spelling list test. I said, "What?! Are you sure?!"
