Native American Basket Collection Washington State Historical Society The collection includes baskets from Washington State and elsewhere, most of them American Indian baskets. Washington State's diverse environment, ranging from the Pacific coast to the mountains and the dry interior provided a range of natural materials for making baskets and resulted in a variety of different basketry styles.  The collection also includes baskets made or used by early European-American settlers and later residents of Washington State. These baskets reflect the immigrants' varied backgrounds and the kind of objects collected or purchased as souvenirs.

The Language of Native American Baskets from the Weaver's View  This exhibition began with the idea that we can understand baskets through the details of their making—the weavers’ view. This idea is based upon a knowledge of baskets gained through many years of conversations with weavers, observation, and hands-on learning. Understanding basket making as process offers a means to see the interrelation of conception, creation, and expression.

Woven Worlds: Basketry from the Clark Field Collection This landmark exhibition explores the cultural and geographic diversity among Native Americans with over 250 baskets selected from Philbrook's world-renowned Clark Field Collection. These baskets, remarkable for their quality and breadth, honor tribal groups from the United States, Canada and northern Mexico, and weave together the inter-relationship between the artists and the collector, Clark Field.
