What's This? Help dating Buddha statue please.

Below are pictures of a Buddha statue I have in my possession. It belonged to my paternal Grandmother, was given to my parents, and has now come to me.

My father says he can verify it being in the house when he was 12, because he took it to a religious class at his church for his confirmation (and was roundly scolded by the Minister for doing so) but that it was in the house for as long as he can remember before that as well. Dad is 75yrs so that takes us to pre-1945.

It only has "Made in Japan" stamped on it, so I have a feeling it may not be that special, except to us. However, the enamel workmanship on it is beautiful, and I don't believe the gold metallic is paint or enamel though I could be wrong. It has worn thin in places.

Buddha also appears to have had earrings at one time that are now missing. I would like to restore them if anyone can tell me what would be proper.

Any and all information gratefully received. We are curious to know what sect of Buddhism our figure is, or any history as to his age or method of production. He appears to be ceramic or pottery.

The photos were in natural light and have been sharpened a very little bit but no color enhancement or other editing.

Many, many thanks in advance should you post this - we have looked for years for information.
