What's This? Multifaceted Crystal Necklace
March 5, 2009 - 1:50pm
This multifaceted crystal necklace was made by the R. F. Simmons Company. The same R. F. Simmons who made the gold pocket watch chains. These crystal beads are strung on a fine gold chain. You can see the chain on ether side of the clasp and being magnified by the beads. The word “SIMMONS” is stamped on the flat between the two rings on the connector just to the left of the clasp. There is a gold collet between each and every bead. The over all length is sixteen inches. Does anyone know anything about its approximate age and market value? Thanks. W.H.

Simmons Crystal Necklace
I find that costume pieces marked Simmons are of good quality. It appears the crystal is heavily faceted, and the chain and spacers most probably gold filled in my experience. If you search "Simmons Crystal Chain" at rubylane you will currently find two examples. One is 35.00 the other 60.00, I think that is a good ballpark estimate. This type of necklace was popular for a long period of time, say late teens to 1940's.
