American Indian History & Art

American Indian Basketry by Otis Tufton Mason, Dover Publications 1989. This is a two-volumes-in-one study of Northwest Native basketry technique and constructive history. It is actually a replication of a 1904 Doubleday publication. It contains hundreds of pictures of truly original turn of the century Native baskets, detailed pen and ink illustrations of construction and materials as well as anecdotal stories directly from the weavers. I've found no better book as an aid to detailed identification and authentication. Ruby Lane Staff
