Retro Ruby: Winter Storage Options - Antique Trunks and Chests
February 2, 2011 - 1:44pm
Our weekend newspaper is filled with post-Christmas sales flyers. We have ads from large department stores, local retailers, drug store chains, and even home improvement circulars. Home Depot and Lowe's have front page headlines reading “Contain Winter Clutter” and “Reorganize for the New Year” and are highlighting 20 gallon storage totes and various shelving options. They are affordable, durable (until they crack), and useful but have to be stored away from view in closets, under beds, or in garages and attics because they are so unattractive. Consider Ruby Lane pieces for stowing away clutter. Vintage collectibles offer desirable storage options made with skilled craftsmanship, higher quality, and an overall sense of beauty. I found these unique styles with a search for “trunk”:
Consider more storage options with these searches: chest, dresser, wardrobe, closet, armoire, bookcase, and vanity. Remember skip the plastics and shop Ruby Lane if you decide to declutter and get reorganized for the New Year! Michele Johnson of Barkcloth Betsy http://barkclothbetsy.rubylane.com Michele Johnson is an avid collector and regular columnist for Notes from the Lane. Michele discusses decorating trends, ideas for home decor and decorating themes; highlighting items found in Ruby Lane shops - all to inspire you. Michele loves vintage fabrics, textiles, and linens, but her absolute favorite is barkcloth - the brighter the colors and unusual textures, the better. Michele is also fond of vintage needlework pieces, clothing and handbags, but what she really enjoys is reworking and repurposing discarded furniture and decorating. |
