The Perfect Get-A-Way
October 19, 2012 - 4:43am
A recent trip could not have been more perfect! I have a affinity for finding and exploring charming small towns; it makes my heart so happy! Traveling through Pennsylvania en route to Maryland, I did a bit of research choosing a halfway point. My homework paid off, it was a quintessential little college town, just the kind that tickles my fancy! The Main Street was filled with interesting rows of buildings with unique facades, delightful cafes and shops. The bed and breakfast could not have matched my style better, the owner’s panache similar to my own taste with her unique vintage touches and unusual flair, nothing frilly or grandmotherly, just simple elegance. The front of the inn was gorgeously decorated for fall looking like a cover of a decorating magazine!
After a refreshing night’s respite and a delicious breakfast, the innkeeper pointed me in the direction of my intended purpose…. to score some great vintage finds. And voila, within walking distance, there was a little mom and pop shop brimming with treasures! The owners pulling out tray after tray of exceptional collectibles, I was enthralled with their wide array of beautiful jewelry. Ohh, what fun I had!
The countryside was bucolic; the autumn leaves beginning their colorful show. Not only did I find lovely keepsakes but also quaint countryside farm stands with some of the largest pumpkins at unbelievably low prices. A stop at a little café for lunch, I sadly said goodbye to one of my favorite new little towns…. definitely will be back to explore again and hopefully very soon…especially since discovering there is a Sunday flea market! Oh boy, this was a jewel of a find! Written by Karen Soldwisch Synergy Jewelry and Collectibles on Ruby Lane
