Summer is Winding Down
August 10, 2012 - 7:36am
Well here where I live in PA the nights are getting cooler, which is a good thing since we actually had a hot summer this year. I love the feel of the cool breeze and the refreshing smells of the trees, and the grass. Not much flowers for me since they bring out the bees. Not happy with them as they always seem to find me. And now at this time of the year the yellow jackets seem to be in frenzy, here there and everywhere. But back to cooler nights and shorter days. It is also getting darker in the mornings as well as the evenings. That is the bad part for me as I do love to be wakened by the rising of the day and watching the sun set at evening. Where I am higher up in the mountains it is darker, colder and we get more rain, fog, sleet, ice and snow then in the lower parts. Soon our oaks will be having the beautiful reds, gold’s, oranges with greens blended throughout them. It is a most beautiful sight to see the turning of the leaves. The squirrels are having a heyday picking up the nuts and who knows where they store them, I think they forget themselves where they put them. The birds are not chirping in the early am as they were doing only a week ago, its quiet in the tress again, well the black ravens still do their squawking but I am missing the singing of the birds. This time next month it will be too quiet, except also for the crickets, those babies hang out for a while longer. I am looking for the next season of autumn as we will be getting all those lovely apples and vegetables that grow here in PA. Until then I am wishing you all the very best of an ending summer.
