RubyPlaza.com to Close December 31, 2012
May 1, 2012 - 6:02am
Two years ago we opened Ruby Plaza to much fanfare. At that time, all of us at Ruby Lane (Ruby Plaza's sister site) were extremely excited about the possibilities that lay ahead for the site after our grand opening. In contrast to Ruby Lane, Ruby Plaza was designed to attract buyers and sellers of new items, as opposed to vintage and collectible items. Sadly, traffic and sales on Ruby Plaza have not reached an acceptable level. This is the reason why in 2011, we decided to make the site free to sell on through December 31, 2012. We had hoped that within that time, activity would increase. Despite our marketing efforts and site improvements, the traffic and sales activity on Ruby Plaza have not improved significantly. Therefore, we have made the tough decision to shut down the site permanently on December 31, 2012. This was not an easy decision or one that we made lightly. We know that many shop owners have spent a significant amount of time and effort building and maintaining their shop. We at Ruby Lane have also spent considerable time and energy on the site. We want sellers to know how much we respect your efforts and appreciate your decision to take a risk (as with any new endeavor), to join us. While we are disappointed that Ruby Plaza was not as successful as we had planned, we want to be clear that Ruby Lane is stronger than ever. Traffic and sales on Ruby Lane remain high, and we're devoting more resources than ever to marketing as we continue to reach out to new buyers and sellers. Finally, we want to thank those sellers who decided to join us on Ruby Plaza. In turn, we also want to recognize Ruby Plaza buyers for shopping on the site, and encourage them to visit RubyLane.com. Ruby Plaza will remain open until midnight on December 31, 2012. In the meantime, both sellers and buyers can expect to receive the excellent customer support as they always have from Ruby Lane.
