CALL FOR ENTRIES

Call for Entries: 500 Silver Jewelry Designs - Hello from Lark Books, We’re publishing an exciting new jewelry book in our 500 series, and we would like to invite you to submit images for consideration. 500 Silver Jewelry Designs, juried by Talya Baharal, is a 420-page, full color survey of contemporary jewelers prominently featuring silver in their designs. This international collection will be beautifully presented and widely distributed throughout the world.

All jewelry forms, such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and brooches are welcome. Materials other than silver, such as stones, other metals, or alternative materials, may be included, but silver must be the focus and should occupy roughly 80% of the piece. All design styles are welcome.

Jewelers whose work is selected for inclusion will receive full acknowledgment within the book, a complimentary copy, and discounts on the future purchase of books. Artists retain copyright to their work. Lark accepts high-quality transparencies, slides, and digital images. No entry fee is required.

September 16 - January 13, 2010. "The Angel in the Architecture" Upcoming exhibition of Wassily Kandinsky, the father of Abstract Art.  Located in Frank Lloyd Wright's open, winding rotunda I can only imagine the light on these spiraling, poetic works of art. It is sure to draw thousands. If you have the chance, go see it. I'm so excited! I must have been channeling Kandinsky when I wrote my recent post on Abstract Art, because I read the New York Times online this morning and low and behold, the Guggenheim is celebrating their 50th Anniversary with an exhibition of their Kandinsky Collection (the world's largest) along with loans from Stadische Gallerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich and the Pompidou Center in Paris both sites of the world's other major Kandinsky collections. The show is expected to be spectacular. I am including a link to the article in the New York Times for your reference. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09 /18/arts/design/18kandinsky.ht ml?_r=1&th&emc=th Val Romanow - Garry Street Gallery http://gsgallery.rubylane.com
